BWY Level 4 Yoga Teacher Training September 2024

Teach what you love! The BWYQ Certificate is a Level 4 -300-hour training course designed to equip you to teach your own yoga classes with confidence.

With the course comes the support and backing of the UK's largest professional body of yoga to guide you on this exciting journey.

The course is not only verified by the BWY but by OFQUAL (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) Which regulates academic qualifications from GCSEs to University degrees within the UK. Please click

Course Content

The Certificate qualification is gained by successful completion of formative and summative units of learning, at level 4 within the RQF (Regulated Qualification Framework)

  • Unit A1 Professional Responsibilities of a yoga teacher.
  • Unit A2 Basic Breathing and Relaxation.
  • Unit A3 Preparing for Āsana,
  • Unit B Approaching Āsana, Basic Breath Control and Relaxation
  • Unit C Effective Planning, Teaching, Assessment and Evaluation.

The two units below will be offered on the progression to Diploma course.
The progression course is an optional Advanced 200 hour course taking you up to the BWY 500 hr Diploma.
Clare will be offering this progressive upgrade at the end of the 300 hour Certificate

  • Unit D The Classical Foundations of Modern Yoga
  • Unit E Incorporating Philosophy, Pranayama, Meditation and Advanced Asana

During the Certificate course, you will be introduced to the history and philosophies that underpin yoga and some of the classic yoga texts. You will also be introduced to prāṇāyāma and meditation.

The Certificate course will run for 21 days 9.00 am-5.30 pm once a month (Sundays) 5 of these will be remote learning days via Zoom. You will also be offered a 1:1 mentoring session via Zoom.

The course will commence with a mandatory introduction day on the 22nd September 2024. Day 1 of the course will be 24th November 2024.

Interviews will be via Zoom followed by the in-person introduction Day. Successful candidates will then be offered a place on the course. The in-person days will be held in Esher Surrey.

The 200 hour Advanced training (progression to Diploma) will be offered at the end of the Certificate course.

BWYQ teaching courses are registered with Ofqual, giving you not only a yoga teaching qualification but also giving you a nationally recognised level 4 qualification too.

As well as course days you will be expected to complete home study assignments, attend your regular classes and complete teaching practices.

Please note: _that it is pre-supposed that candidates will already have been practicing yoga for a minimum of two years. The BWY course is a Level 4 course and as such candidates will need to consider if they can meet the entry requirements stated in the application documents.
